This is the only toddler harness I could find with a retractable leash. Nice idea. Teddy bear material is nice and soft. However, the clasp that connects the strap around child's waist is made out of very cheap, flimsy plastic. It barely stays connected. My 1 yr old can pull it apart. Not safe at all when he is on the go. The place I bought it from doesn't take returns unless product is defective. I think it is not defective. It's MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC! I don't think an exchange will make any difference. I spent almost $30 (one of the most expensive harnesses out there) and I still have to fix it myself. Will buy a stronger clasp and replace it myself. Don' t buy this unless you plan on doing some sewing. It is a shame that they actually call this product safe2go. It definitely is NOT SAFE.

Eddie Bauer 2 - in - 1 Harness Buddy - Monkey Review

We bought the bear version of this product to help my little boy stay with us when we're out. He can now escape from the stroller easily, and he is way faster than my pregnant body can keep up with. And we want him (and the places we visit) to be safe! My husband's cousin's little boys have loved their little "backpacks," and my son was really excited to wear his. However, when we got the harness home, as I was looking at the design of the product, I realized that having the buckles in the FRONT would not work for us--my son knows how to open those kinds of buckles. He would be out of that in a flash! And many other children would be able to escape easily, too. I'm sure that there is a way to design this product with the buckles in back under the backpack so only the parent can access them! We are taking our harness back and getting one with no fasteners in front. Nice idea, but not designed too intelligently.

I got this for my 2 1/2 year old son when I lost him in a store for 20 minutes. He loves backpacks, so it wasn't hard to get it on him the first time. When he is in a good mood he loves to have someone hold his "tail". When he is in a bad mood he knows his choice is to be in the cart or wear monkey. Having a choice is important for a 2 year old. I have used it for about 4 months and even when he pulls on it hard (trying to get away) nothing has torn. I would buy another if this one ever broke. The comments I get from strangers is "that is such a good idea". The "tail" is easy to clip on and off when it isn't needed.
