(More customer reviews)The picture for this item is very deceiving. The boy on the box can't be older than two because the vest looks huge on him and in fact, it is very short. I ordered it for my four-year-old son and it stops just below his waist, which looks a little silly with his t-shirt coming down to his hips. Also, on the box the blue near the collar appears to be the aqua color that Diego wears but in reality it is a light/medium blue. The vest seems to be made of a very thin micro nylon fabric that is so flimsy it doesn't even close in the front and just hangs open. There are two velcro straps on each side of the vest that hold the front and back of the vest together. Our box arrived with a big dent in the side and the binoculars were smashed. This being said, I know Amazon will replace the binoculars and we'll begrudgingly keep it, as my son really wants to be Diego for Halloween.

(More customer reviews)I got this toy for my grandson's 5th birthday. He is really into Diego and "rescueing" animals. He is pretty big for his age, so the straps were a bit tight, but he loved it and so did his sisters who are 3 and 7. They all tried it on and started their imaginary play.

My son is 2 years and 8 months and my daugther is 9 months old. Of course he uses both backpacks, she just like to bite the map. xD
I think the size is perfect for their little backs. It is a little small inside but it is not a problem... Sometimes we use it for their diapers, or for a bit of toys, or for Swiper and Boots I also bought here.
We also play a lot with the backpacks, specially with Dora's and the Map!

(More customer reviews)First, the $30 is it listed for is not worth it! I know I paid a lot less than this when I purchased it from Amazon when it first came out.
My 2 1/2 year old (3 now) enjoyed playing with this when he first got it. It is nicely made and comes with a baby jaguar, a cast for the jaguar's foot, a plastic xray and stethascope. My son never plays with any of these things. He uses the backpack to carry around his own little "treasures".
The volume is a bit loud, but it's not that often that he presses for it to talk. He did have it talk and sing all the time when he initially got it. The novelty of a talking backpack wore off and he uses it primarily as a little tote.
Most toys like these will provide short term entertainment and my son will always go back to the trusty hot wheels cars and playdoh. For the price I paid for it, it was worth it to see how excited he was to get Diego's backpack. Plus, it sparked some imaginitive play which I enjoy seeing him do. For the price they're asking for it now($30)...I would have to say that I probably wouldn't purchase it.

(More customer reviews)My two Diego fans, 5 yrs and 3 yrs boys, love this pack. Really, it's a simple backpack with a face on it. My 5 year old noticed that Diego's really has 1 shoulder strap...and this one has two. Also the flap on top doesn't have a zipper, snap, or velcro to hold it shut...so sometimes things fall out. No matter. They love theirs and play make-believe Diego all the same. It's not their most favorite, hence the 4 stars. But it's reasonably sturdy, a decent price, and they play with it all the time.
